A Little History

Trimble County Public Library began with a small bookmobile in1960. The library served the community through the work of volunteers and a small budget.

Through the approval of Fiscal Court on June 21, 1971, the library was established as a Special Government Entity taxing district. Increased funding allowed for the purchase of a small building next to court house square in 1975. The library prospered and served the community well in our little library.

It became clear after many years that the library needed a larger space to serve the community. After years of planning, construction began on a new building in 2010 on the property known for the Equity Barn in Bedford. Beams from the barn were used to construct a beautiful entry way and welcome desk area. A year later, in September of 2011, the library was complete. The library continues to strive to provide excellent service and meet the ever changing needs of our community.
